Over that time the company has earned recognition from homeowner review communities, independent accreditation bodies, and technical certification organizations. None of the awards below were purchased.
This page lists each one and explains how it is earned, so you can judge for yourself what the recognition is worth.
Best of Houzz Service Award

Houzz is a home renovation and design platform with more than 65 million homeowners and over 2.5 million active home professionals. Each February it announces Best of Houzz winners in three categories: Design, Service, and Photography.
The Service award is the one tied directly to how a contractor treats homeowners. Houzz determines it by the volume, quality, and star rating of homeowner reviews for projects completed in the previous year. Consideration is free and automatic based on a professional's profile, overall rating, and reviews. There is no application, no nomination, and no way to buy the badge. About 3 percent of professionals on the platform win a Best of Houzz award in any given year, which is what makes winning it in eight separate years meaningful. It means homeowners kept reporting the same experience across a decade of projects.

The Better Business Bureau assigns letter grades from A+ down to F using a 100-point scale built on 13 weighted factors. Complaint volume and resolution carries the most weight, and the BBB looks at complaints filed over the past three years, how quickly the business responded, and whether the outcome satisfied the homeowner. Time in business, transparency of business practices, and licensing status also factor in. An A+ requires a score of 97 or higher. Reviews left on a BBB profile are not used in the letter grade calculation.
Accreditation is separate from the rating. It is voluntary, it requires meeting the BBB Standards for Trust, and a business must maintain at least a B rating to hold it. Built To Perfection has held both the accreditation and the A+ rating continuously since early 2016, through hundreds of residential projects.
IICRC Certified Firm

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification is a nonprofit standards body and an accredited standards developer with the American National Standards Institute. The standards the IICRC publishes are what the restoration industry, and most insurance carriers, treat as the accepted standard of care for drying a wet structure or cleaning smoke damage.
To hold Certified Firm status, a company has to employ at least one active IICRC Certified Technician, maintain required insurance and licensing, and agree to the IICRC Code of Ethics and complaint policy. Certified technicians earn their credential by completing training courses and passing a standardized exam, then keeping it current with continuing education credits. For a homeowner, the practical meaning is that the same company handling the demolition and drying after a fire or a burst pipe is also the licensed general contractor that rebuilds the space.
EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm

Applies to: Homes built before 1978
Federal law requires any firm paid to disturb painted surfaces in a home built before 1978 to be certified under the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule. Certification requires a firm application to the EPA and at least one certified renovator who has completed an EPA-accredited training course covering lead hazards, containment, cleaning verification, and recordkeeping. Certified firms must follow lead-safe work practices on every covered job, and violations carry federal civil penalties.
A large share of the housing stock in Los Angeles predates 1978, so this credential comes up constantly on kitchen remodels, bathroom remodels, additions, and restoration work in older neighborhoods. Homeowners in those homes should confirm any contractor they hire holds it.

The score weighs license status with the state board most heavily, followed by verified permitted work history, homeowner reviews, and standing with local consumer protection agencies. Licensed contractors start at a baseline score of 90, and permit history is one of the few inputs a contractor cannot manufacture.
Built To Perfection's score of 180 is driven by a public permit record: 356 building permits filed over the life of the company, including 123 in the past three years. Permits are pulled from municipal records, which makes them the most independently verifiable measure of whether a contractor is doing the volume of work it claims.

A Class B General Building license is the California credential required to contract for projects involving two or more unrelated building trades, which covers essentially every remodel, addition, ADU, and custom home. This is a legal requirement rather than an award, but it belongs on this page for a practical reason. Unlicensed and improperly licensed work is one of the most common sources of homeowner loss in California remodeling. HERO Registered Contractor
Program: Home Energy Renovation Opportunity, a PACE financing program
To become a HERO Registered Contractor, a company must hold an active CSLB license in good standing, meet the board's bonding and workers' compensation insurance requirements, pass a fraud check, and agree to the program's terms, including pulling permits for all covered work. Only registered contractors can perform work financed through the program.
For homeowners, registration means energy- and water-efficiency improvements included in a larger project can be financed through a property tax assessment rather than paid up front.
GuildQuality Member
Type: Independent third-party homeowner satisfaction surveying
GuildQuality surveys homeowners directly after their projects are complete, using a combination of phone and email outreach that produces response rates of 60 to 70 percent. Feedback goes to GuildQuality first, not to the contractor, and the company collects it whether it is positive or negative.
That structure is the point. A contractor cannot filter which homeowners get surveyed or suppress a poor result, which makes participation a different signal than a self-managed review page.

Built To Perfection's ratings hold steady across separate platforms with different review policies and different audiences, including Nextdoor, where the people recommending a contractor live on the same streets as the projects.
What These Awards Have in Common
Almost none of these can be bought, and the ones that involve a fee still require a record to back them up. Houzz counts homeowner reviews. BBB counts complaints and how they were resolved. BuildZoom counts permits pulled from public municipal records. IICRC and the EPA count training, testing, and documented work practices.
